CASE IH DELIVERS FIVE NEW BALERS IN PROMISING MARKET

The hay season is offering good promise with higher yields expected to offset moderate prices. To help growers make the most of the season, Case IH has launched its new five model baler range including round, large square and small square balers suitable for baling a variety of crops from straw through to silage.

"Favourable spring rains have meant the season has had an early and promising start. Along with growers, we're hopeful the positive outlook will continue through to a good harvest,   explained Case IH Product Performance Manager for Hay, Ross Aylwin."With Case IH's five new baler models suited to a range of growers from contractors to livestock and dairy producers, hay makers are well placed to make the most of the season ahead."

RB Round Balers

The RB Series includes two new models available as Rotor Feeder and optional rotor cutter with variable bale diameters ranging up to 1.5 m on the RB 454 and 1.8 m on the RB 464. With a    1.2 m wide chamber and a 2.3 m wide pick up, the RB Series is designed to pick up the widest of windrows for maximum productivity.

The units feature 128 tynes and long, large diameter augers that ensure smooth crop flow even in heavy conditions, resulting in evenly formed bales for easier handling. "Operators can view the windrow feeding and crop flowing into the bale chamber thanks to the pickup's forward location. And because of their low profile design, the baler pick up flows over ground contours, making it possible to bale in all field conditions."

The production of consistent dense bales is assured thanks to the combined action of chevron pattern belts and all-steel rolls. "It's also easy to change bale size and density with the hydraulic belt-tensioning system and pressure gauge positioned within easy reach, which brings a greater level of control for operators," Ross said.

For low maintenance and excellent durability, both balers feature heavy duty three-ply endless belts as standard.

A standard in-cab monitor also allows for bale size adjustments on-the-go, while providing operator alerts on wrapping and baling operation. Daily and total bale counts are delivered via an electronic bale counter, making it easy to monitor productivity. A bale shape indicator is also standard, and uses visual bar graphs and audible signals to indicate which side of the bale needs more hay, guiding the driving pattern to ensure the chamber is evenly filled.

LB3 Series Large Square Balers

Ideal for commercial growers, custom operators and large scale operations, the LB Series provides operators with a choice of bale sizes to match individual shipping, storage and feeding needs. Bale widths are 0.8 m on the LB333, and 1.2 m on the LB433. Bale height on both models is set at 0.9m, and length is adjustable up to 2.7m. "In the end, easy handling, transportation and storage adds up to saved time and more dollars for your bottom line," Ross said.

For maximum adaptability, the hitch design ensures the LB Series can be attached to a wide range of tractors. Adding to this, the slim tongue drawbar allows for tight turns, making baling possible in a wide range of field conditions.

To cater to varying crop types and to accommodate silage and other high moisture crops, the LB Series has a three way density bale chamber that automatically adjusts pressure to maintain consistent bale density. A hydraulic bale eject system and folding roller bale chute ensure easy preparation for baler transport.

For long term durability and ease of maintenance, the LB Series features a gearbox drive double knotter system and an automatic central lubrication distribution system. The standard automatic greasing system adds to ease of maintenance, while saving time and improving bearing life.

Like the RB Series, the LB3 Series also comes with a standard in-cab monitor to allow for numerous bale adjustments on-the-go, while providing operator alerts on baling operation.

In addition, the LB Series' electronic system is fully ISO 11783 compliant, which ensures the baler can be attached to any compatible tractor such as the Puma CVT. "This feature enables the operator to use the tractor's existing monitor to perform all baler electronic functions, which simplifies operation and avoids cluttering the cab with additional implement monitors," Ross added.

SB Small Square Series Balers

The SB 541features a wide pick up and heavy duty feeding system to enable the production of high quality 35 by 46 cm bales in a range of conditions. Serviceability and access to key maintenance points are a standout feature, with a new plunger and feeder shielding design.

"The design ensures easier access to the main drive chain and gearbox for easy maintenance and service," Ross said. "Improved access to the pickup drive belt further adds to ease of maintenance, while a flip down shield provides easy access to knotter service points."

The SB 541 also features a larger capacity, eight ball twine box, which allows for longer baling without the need to rethread, increasing productivity in field. Long term durability is delivered by gear-driven knotters and heavy duty drivelines and clutches.

"Right across the range, our new balers are the perfect choice for hay makers looking to make the most of the season ahead," Ross said.

"With easy maintenance and usability built into the design of all new models, operators can feel confident that regardless of the model they choose, Case IH balers ensure consistent production of high density bales in a range of field conditions and crop types."
